Terms of Service

1. Acceptance

By creating an account or using Footprint, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

2. What Footprint is

Footprint is a personal travel visualisation tool. It lets you upload your Google Location History (Timeline) export and displays your travel history on an interactive private map. It is intended for personal, non-commercial use.

3. Your data

You own your data. By uploading files to Footprint, you grant us a limited licence to store and process that data solely to provide the service to you. We do not claim any rights to your location history or travel data beyond what is necessary to operate the service.

You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to upload any files you submit.

4. Acceptable use

You may not use Footprint to:

• Upload data belonging to another person without their explicit consent
• Attempt to access another user's data or interfere with the service
• Scrape, copy, or redistribute data from the platform
• Violate any applicable law or regulation
• Upload files containing malware or malicious content

5. Account termination

You may delete your account at any time via Settings → Delete Account. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. Upon termination, your data is deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

6. Disclaimer of warranties

Footprint is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee:

• The accuracy or completeness of GPS data or inferred place names
• Uninterrupted or error-free service availability
• That all uploaded data will be processed successfully

GPS location data is inherently imprecise. Map visualisations are approximate.

7. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Footprint and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, including loss of data. Our total liability to you for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

8. Changes to terms

We may update these terms. Material changes will be communicated via email or in-app notice at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of the service after that date constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
